Welcome to the Armitage Shanks Mountain bike site
This mountain bike club was formed way back in `93 when rigid forks and bike geometry was the talked about thing.A bunch of nutters in Stranraer(SW Scotland)with no will to work and no interest in the world apart from bikes started the Armitage Shankers.It started off with cheap and nasty bikes and has went the full hog to ridiculous expensive machines that verge on the uninsurable.Most of the original shankers survive and we`re still going strong although luckily we haven`t grown up yet.We`re always interested to hear from other bikers who like a beer or 7 and revels in technical singletrack(not at the same time).To be honest we`ve seen it done it and tried it all when it comes to MTB and we`ve settled on our favorite diet of custom hardtails.Horses for courses I say and for our type of riding hardtails are the toys we like.
We`ve been in the game a long time. I mean who remembers Grafton? TNT? Fat Chance? Nuke Proof? Paul Components? Joe Breeze?Killer Vs?Royce? Bullseye? Cook Bros?
We meet and ride(and drink) regularly, sometimes for a 2 hours blast sometimes 10 hours cross country.Overnighters? No problems we like tents(and beer).
BLOWOUT .........THE MOVIE


In 1995 we produced our own absolutely shite video.It lasts a whopping 23 minutes and has a couple of minutes of poached film from another movie to fill the gaps.Its seriously hard work trying to make a film look exciting and entertaining.We must of filmed about15 hours(no joke)of footage to get our decent 25 minutes or so.The soundtrack is fantastic and there is a few good crashes with a broken tail bone and some broken ribs thrown in for good measure.Believe it or not if you are daft enough to send some postage money we`d send a copy.Just think of cheap porn quality and you get the picture.
I remember being at work and approaching a car with 2 downhill bikes on a roof rack.One of the guys said "You`re that guy off the film!" Turns out he knew Gary that worked in the shop where I bought my FAT.I gave him the film to watch and he must of handed it out so it can`t be that bad.

A few years ago when we began to feel time and middle age was catching uo on us we thought we make one last attempt to capture us together clowning around on our bikes..The result was BLOWUP..  this time with more modern equipment...You can check it out on you tube in 3 parts we think you'll be impressed or at least amused (search blowup parts 1 2 &3)
